Exploring the Experimental College

Mark your calendars to re-discover the experimental college, which was founded as a living memorial to May 4, 1970. Learn about current interdisciplinary coursework happening across campus. The event will take place on Friday, April 16, 2010 from Noon - 2 p.m. Watch for detailed coming soon.

Ken Bain Author of What the Best College Teachers Do Visiting KSU (2/4/10)

Ken Bain will partake in a guided conversation titled “What the Best College Teachers Do to Cultivate Deep Learning,“ on Thursday, February 4, at 7:00 pm.  This event will take place in the KSC Ballroom Balcony.  Bain will also be here on Friday, February 5, from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm having multiple workshops and conversations to reiterate what he has examined throughout life and put into his book. These workshops include a Syllabus workshop (can a shift in the syllabus make a difference?), a conversation with Chairs & Directors, lunch, a conversation over 21st century learning at KSU and a wrap-up with next steps and resources. Register for the Ken Bain visit and workshops. To prepare for Bain's visit the FPDC will be hosting Action Reads Mondays starting January 25 at 9:00 am until 10:00 am.   Register for the action reads.

Welcome 2010-2011 Service Scholars

Congratulations to our newest Service Scholars. They will participate in monthly seminars and implement service learning in their classes. The Service Scholars program was initiated by Andrea Adolph and now is coordinated by Natalie Caine-Bish. The 2010 scholars are: Rebecca Morsefield, Jodie Luidhardt, Karen Gordon, Lisa Waite, Scott Tobias, Lisa Hallaman. The 2009-2010 Service Scholars include: Karen Kritzer, James Bolchalk, Joanne Caniglia, Jennifer Fisette, and Erin Hollenbaugh.

Library Live 2010

Libraries will be sponsoring a one-day conference on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Main Library on the Kent campus. Library Live! 2010 brings you updates on resources and tools designed to support your research and teaching needs. Sessions provide hands-on practice with new skills and a chance to ask questions of the experts in a welcoming environment.
