Marcia Baxter Magolda

Marcia B. Baxter Magolda, Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor of Educational Leadership at Miami University of Ohio. She teaches student development theory and inquiry courses in the Student Affairs in Higher Education masters and doctoral programs. Her scholarship addresses the evolution of learning and development in college and young adult life, the role of gender in development, and pedagogy to promote self-authorship. Her extensive publishing credits include the recent book Authoring Your Life: Developing an Internal Voice to Navigate Life’s Challenges.

Marcia Baxter Magolda's keynote presentation and interactive workshop on October October 15th, 2009 and October 16th 2009 was very well attended. Marcia Baxter Magolda's visit to Kent State University was both a very insightful event that lead to great discussion.

University colleagues got together to spend an evening with Marcia Baxter Magolda. They were engaged in considering implications of findings from her longitudinal (22-year) study of student learning and development.  Engaged learning, she finds, requires transformative learning at all levels of the academy.
