The Center is comprised of a director, assistant director, secretary, faculty associate, and studio educational consultants who work with faculty and graduate students and conduct seminars and workshops in support of faculty professional development.

 

 

Mary Lou Holly

Mary Lou Holly, Director

Professor Mary Lou Holly has been director of the Center since its creation in 1998. She has been a faculty member in the College of Education since 1978, where her long-time interest in human development has been fueled. Mary Lou invites you to stop by any time to use center resources or to discuss any aspect of professional development.

Jeffrey Pellegrino

Jeffrey Pellegrino, Assistant Director

Jeffrey L. Pellegrino, Ph.D. joins the FPDC with 10+ years of Higher Education experience, working at small private and large public institutions, including the University of Dayton, Michigan State University, & Bowling Green State University. With a background in experiential and adventure education he continues to explore learning community development and applications on and off campus. Student success and service learning continue to be key interests for Jeffrey as he works with Faculty and Professional Learning Communities. As the FPDC grows to serve, he looks forward to seeing you in Moulton Hall exploring and using new technologies or engaged in great conversations. Being a new member of the Kent State University team, Jeffrey also welcomes your ideas to help you succeed, so please stop by or drop him a line.

Albert Ingram

Albert Ingram, Faculty Associate

Albert L. Ingram, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at Kent State University , where he teaches a variety of courses in instructional design and technology. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Arizona State University in 1984. Along the way, Dr. Ingram has taught at Governors State University and Kent State University and worked at a variety of other organizations including Digital Equipment Corporation, The American College, the Software Engineering Institute, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Ingram is co-author of Exploring Current Issues in Educational Technology with Drew Tiene and of FrontPage 2002: An introduction to Web design for educators and trainers with Ruth Watson. He has published papers in a variety of journals, including Educational Technology , the Journal of Educational Technology Systems , Educational Technology Research and Development , the Journal of Educational Computing Research , Performance and Instruction , and Computers in the Schools.

D Dees

David Dees, Faculty Associate

David M. Dees is an assistant professor in Educational Foundations at Kent State University Salem Campus. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in educational foundations, ethics, curriculum studies, and educational psychology. His research interests include the study of teaching artistry and the development of transactional awareness in educators at all levels.

CanigliaJ

Joanne Caniglia, Faculty Associate

Joanne Caniglia earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics at John Carroll University and her masters in mathematics at Youngstown State University. She was a secondary teacher and department chair in Niles and Akron, Ohio for 12 years and spent time as a graduate researcher at Kent State University where she received her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics Education. She taught for 14 years at Eastern Michigan University where she was Professor of Mathematics Education. While there she was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Governor's Award for Distinguished Teaching. Her research investigates effective professional development models in urban settings. She is a PI and Co-PI for many National Science Foundation and Board of Regents initiatives. For the past 12 years, she has actively coordinated service-learning projects through her courses. She is excited about her role as faculty associate.

HollyWells

Holly Wells, Documentation Specialist, ISLS Program

Holly Wells is a PhD student in the LRSP program (English Dept) at Kent State. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees are in English from Youngstown State. She has six years of teaching and fourteen years of business experience, working as an administrative assistant, technical writer, photographer, and consultant.

Ben Brown

Benjamin S Brown, Studio Educational Consultant

An Undergraduate at Kent State's College of Communication and Information, received The National Honor Society Character Award graduating from Hudson High School. Majoring in Visual Communications Design, he helps with the upkeep of the FPDC website and design. He was Born in Providence Rhode Island and raised in Hudson Ohio. He loves nature and enjoys incorporating it into his artwork.

Justin Shreve

Justin Shreve, Studio Educational Consultant

Justin helps with the upkeep of the FPDC website and design and acts as a Studio Educational Consultant. He is an Undergraduate majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Web Design & Programming. He spends a lot of his free time designing and developing websites, walking and taking photographs.

Leah Betton

Leah Betton, Office Assistant

Leah, who works in the FPDC studio, is a communications major minoring in writing and political science. She has also been a member of Alpha Phi Omega since fall 2006 and has been working at FPDC since the Spring of 2009.

Nancy Kreston

Nancy Kreston, Administrative Secretary

Nancy returns to the FPDC as a part time Administrative Secretary.  She previously was the office manager for a large medical practice in Aurora and currently manages her own professional drug testing company. Nancy welcomes you to the FPDC and is happy to assist you with any of your needs.
