Moulton Scholars

Program Description view as pdf

The Moulton Scholars program is designed to enable faculty members to work on scholarly projects that can be made possible or enhanced by using technology. The program offers faculty members office space, equipment, access to pedagogical expertise and technological resources including consultation that will help achieve project goals. While individual scholars may focus their work on specific courses or projects, the program is also designed to offer support for department or unit work that will contribute to continuing development over time and benefit increasing numbers of students.

There are three options to becoming a Moulton Scholar, each of which entails having a project plan, submitting an application to the fpdc and participating in Moulton Scholars activities. Note: It is possible to combine options.

Option 1: Have a project plan that can be completed as part of a normal workload with the use of resources in Moulton Hall.

Option 2: Have a project plan with a specific time allocated for completion in residence at Moulton Innovative Learning and Technologies Center . Professional leaves offer such an opportunity, as do departmental reallocation in load.

Option 3: Full time faculty may apply for a scholarship of up to $2,000 toward a two credit hour load reallocation for the term of the scholarship which, when matched with departmental sources the equivalent of one credit hour (or $1000), enables the faculty member to have the equivalent of a three credit hour course time reallocation for the Moulton Scholar project.

Small fpdc grants (up to $500) (visit Grants and Funding Opportunities for application) are available for technology aides such as software or small equipment. Grants from the University Research Council and the University Teaching Council may also be available depending on the project. Up to $500 for professional development and teaching aides are available for those applying via Options 1 & 2.

Who: The program is open to KSU faculty and graduate assistants who teach at least six credit hours per term and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the program.

Selection: A selection committee comprised of former Moulton Scholars and fpdc council members will make recommendations to the fpdc director who will make the final decisions on selection.

Submission: Applications submitted by April 1st, will be considered first for the following fall and spring semesters. Applications may be considered throughout year, depending on nature of request, funding and space available.

IMPORTANT: Prospective scholars are encouraged to meet with fpdc staff prior to applying to discuss their projects and application to ensure that resources needed for the project can be made available.
