Grant Summary
This community seeks to enhance our integration of Personal digital Assistants – PDAs (or Palm Pilots) and Pasco software and probeware into methods courses, specifically science, math, TESOL, and educational technology courses. The faculty involved in the community will develop and implement inquiry-based authentic lessons in their courses facilitated by PDA technology,. Lessons developed and faculty experiences will be shared with other faculty.
Learning Community Goals
- Gain proficiency with effective use of available PDA hardware, probeware and software.
- Improve instruction by learning how to develop lessons that are authentic and inquiry-based
- Connect math, science and language acquisition skills and concepts more effectively through the use of technology, through the inter-disciplinary nature of our learning community
- Model collaboration both the faculty and the students and build relationships across departments and with the teaching community, via regular meetings, departmental presentations and brown bag seminars.
