Improving Technical Report Writing: Professional Skills

Grant Summary
Alumni, faculty, employers, and program advisory boards all agree that our engineering technology (ET) graduates need to be effective communicators. Most ET faculty and students do not see the Technical Report Writing (TRW) course as meeting related ET program goals and believe changes are required. This project aims to: actively align ET and TRW faculty in order to reform or replace the TRW course; present consistent technical writing instruction across the curriculum, as reflected in the collaborative development of a wiki resource; reduce ET student WD-F-D rates in TRW; and improve students’ technical writing across the ET curriculum.
