Grant Summary
The purpose of this Nurse Educators Sharing Technology (NEST) project is to create a learning community for members of Youngstown State University’s (YSU) nursing faculty to develop knowledge and skills to effectively create and use online modalities of learning in nursing education delivery. Technology skills include refining proficiency with WebCT, developing competency with podcasting, and exploring use of open source e portfolio technology with undergraduate and graduate nursing curriculum. Pedagogical principles of effective teaching will be infused throughout the learning and skill building.

      Learning Community Goals

  • Develop increased knowledge of and proficiency with technologies used in online learning environments, to include: advanced features of WebCT platform, podcasting, and e-Portfolio
  • Establish an online environment where members can interact, share resources, and experiment with technology
  • Create a learning module using podcast technology
  • Apply the Severn Principles of Effective Teaching I the construction of newly developed learning modules.
