Institution Partners: Youngstown State University
Grant Summary
The current project maps out pedagogical methods and assessment tools for using the classroom response technologies in teaching small and medium size classes (<30 students). A broader purpose is to set the bases for a learning community of instructors using this technology at Youngstown State University (YSU). This will provide the currently isolated users with the platform for sharing their expertise and develop the best teaching practices. Also, new users will find the support needed for the deployment of the technology within their classrooms.
- Learning Community Goals
- To map out a successful method for the use of classroom response systems for smaller size classes (>30 students) at YSU.
- To develop good practices for creating multiple choice questions that assess the student real understanding and retention of new concepts.
- To create an environment in which faculty from the learning community of student response users can share their experiences with this technology
- To provide workshops and training for faculty outside the community interested to adopt the new technology
