WEBTAS

The WEBTAS LC will evaluate existing practices and promote best applications of web-based teaching, help faculty improve the development of web-based learning objects for their blended and fully integrated web courses, and assist staff with designing web-based academic support services for students.
The LC will also explore ways to use web-based technologies to improve strategies that promote student content creation. Eventually, the WEBTAS LC hopes to establish a model of practice for other campuses through the creation of a resource center portal for faculty and staff across the university community.

The four major goals of the WEBTAS LC are as follows:

1) To develop and evaluate learning objects created by web-based technologies (assignments, assessments, interactive course materials) and examine the use of web-based technologies (courseware applications, blogs, wikis, social-networking tools, and other Web 2.0 tools) to present these objects
2) To identify ways in which web-based technologies can improve and increase student content creation
3) To mentor colleagues who are beginning to integrate web-based technologies into their work—to help faculty transition traditional based teaching into blended or fully integrated web-based formats—to help staff develop additional web-based academicsupport services
4) To establish a consistent program of peer review and  quality driven practice in the use of web-based
technologies.
